Festival Of Writing, York

This year, the Festival of Writing at the University of York runs from Friday 25 March to Sunday 27, with an optional hangover morning on Monday 28. Be there or be square and heckle Nicola Morgan and me: we’re each running workshops and would love to meet you.

I think Nicola’s sessions are sold out but as my workshop was a late addition to the schedule (honest!) there  might still be a few places left. I’ll be discussing how being published badly can scupper a writer’s chances of ever being published again; and what you can do to avoid this trap.  And as if that weren’t enough I’ll be doing my best to persuade Nicola Morgan to do a live version of our Christmas elf-dance, all on her own. She has the shoes for it.  See you there.

I would love to be there to listen to you both but the thought of 5 hours travel each way is too much for me.

I’m doing a turn at York this year, but I can’t guarantee dancing, although for the right people I might jiggle about a bit in a lack-lustre fashion.

Denyse, that’s a shame–but I can quite understand. I certainly wouldn’t travel five hours just to see me!

And Jane: have you SEEN our elf-dancing? I bet your jiggling will be far more skilled.

Sorry but I’ll be in Bologna, otherwise might have come to give support. Sure you’ll both be wonderful!

Mine are definitely not sold out. Please come, people! And do come to Jane’s – I’ve heard her talk and she’s ace.

And to add the love to the martini, I shall be there, too. Only as a punter, that is, not speaking, although I may have a walk-on part when Ed Handyside of Myrmidon struts his stuff.

Olive, not love! OLIVE. How on earth did that happen?

Sigh, I will have to be a very square cat. It is much too far from Downunder even if I did not have a very senior cat to look after.
Please do report back and tell us all what happens!

    “optional hangover morning”

I love the idea of optional hangovers, and mornings to go with them! Are you only allowed to buy tickets for this morning session if you also buy a ticket for the disco on Saturday night?

Jane, if York wasn’t a bazillion miles from Montana, I’d be there in a flash. I usually don’t have the opportunity to attend writing workshops or conferences due to limited finances and my relative geographic isolation. The one and only conference I have been able to attend was HEAVEN.

I’ll be there too – a session, (and there are a few book doctor slots left) and most important of all, At The Bar…

Sally, I suspect that a martini with love added would be exceptionally good. Or bad, depending on how you look at it.

Scooter, for a moment there I thought you were saying you’d come back from the dead.

I’ll be there with my very good friend Hannah Vincent. Though I’m concentrating on the crime/screen writing stuff.

Eek! Sorry, Nicola. I should say it was HEAVENLY.

By the way, on a completely unrelated subject, I wanted to say thank you to whomever visits my blog from this site. (Not being entirely sure how the tracking feature on Blogger works, I’m not certain if someone is linking from this blog to my site, or if they just visit it next after leaving this one.)

I noticed that it happens very regularly, and I really appreciate it. Many thanks.

I’m looking forward to the elf-dance. I’m sure it will be very inspiring, although I might have to change genre to fit it in a manuscript.
