The Downside Ghosts, by Stacia Kane

I’ve known Stacia Kane online since she was a sweet little newbie unpublished writer, printing her manuscripts on pink sparkly paper and putting a cupcake in with each new submission just to give all those hard-working agents out there a better day.*

My, how she’s grown.

When I read Unholy Ghosts, the first book in her Downside Ghosts series, I was knocked sideways by it. The world-building, the people, the story: she didn’t put a foot wrong. I read few books as compulsively as I read this one, and I’m so proud that my dear friend Stacia has turned out to be such a bloody brilliant writer as well as an all-round lovely woman.

If you’d like to find out more, here are a few reviews of her work.  I particularly liked this quote:

Stacia Kane is writing a series that transcends the urban fantasy genre and should be read more widely.

My bold. But yes: Stacia is a wonderful, amazing writer and I urge you all to read her blog, and buy her books.

* OK, I lied. I bet she’s never done anything like that. But she can’t be cross with me about it now I’ve said such nice things about her. Ha!

I was completely blown away by Unholy Ghosts and I’m looking forward to reading the next books in the series. I don’t often put up puffy posts like this one but in Stacia’s case I feel it’s completely deserved, and I’m thrilled if that means I have a chance to support her.

And also, she looks like a pixie. I wish I did!

I couldn’t have said it better myself. The books are AMAZING, and although I finished the series a month ago, I can’t get them out of my head.

And I just made another friend read the entire series, just because I believe it is THAT good :)
