Every year the Book Trade Charity raises funds through its action week which this year runs from 7 to 11 June. Publishing’s great and good take part, and this year is no exception: cake bakes, a pub quiz, and a spelling bee are among the many events planned.
One of the highlights this year comes from the literary agents at Blake Friedmann, who are offering professional feedback on a synopsis and partial manuscript or screenplay to six lucky writers. This is an opportunity not to be missed: Blake Friedmann is one of the UK’s top literary agencies, and its agents are all highly-skilled, perceptive and well-informed about what gets published–and what doesn’t.
If you’d like to be in the running, all you have to do pick your favourite agent out of the line-up and leave your bid as a comment on the special blog which Blake Friedmann has created for this auction. Don’t forget to check out the writers that each agent represents in order to get the best match for your writing; and please don’t leave your bidding to the last minute, as it would be awful to lose out because you couldn’t get online at the right time. And if you need a little light reading to keep you occupied until the auction is over you could always take a look at Carole Blake’s wonderful book From Pitch to Publication, the most comprehensive guide to getting published that there is, now in its eleventh printing.
Good luck: let me know if you’re successful. I might well place a bid myself.
