There was a bit of a disaster at my house on Saturday: we had a digger up doing a little bit of light drainage works (my glamorous life, episode number 97), and it managed to sever our phone cable in two places (which comes in underground as we live in the Peak District National Park, where planning laws are even stricter than I am). The digger also broke the main sewerage pipe and squished a rainwater pipe so that as it started to rain, the water began to back up through the drains and cascade in a beautiful fountain half-way up the wall. Very nice.
So here I am, on a borrowed computer, with no phone and no internet connections until the phone is fixed. At least the toilets are flushable again. I have a very capable husband whose hands now smell of bleach, but I won’t tell you the details of that one. Just imagine it for yourself. He’s a treasure.
I’ve got posts for this blog lined up until the beginning of September, and will demand internet access from the few friends I have left, but don’t be surprised if I’m quiet for a while. The last time our phone went off we were left without any connection for five weeks. Let’s hope it’s just a few days this time.
See you soon!
