A friend of mine is taking part in this year’s Race for Life event on 11 July 2010, a sponsored run (or walk, if you’re like me) which raises money for Cancer Research UK.
If your life has ever been touched by cancer, as mine has, you’ll know how important it is for such research to continue.
My friend would welcome all donations: you can make yours here.
Thank you.
It’s a great cause and a fantastic annual event – my daughter is running it so I’m supporting her, otherwise I’d have sponsored your friend. I have great respect for everyone who’s running (or walking, which is also what I’d have to do!) it. Well done, everyone!
I too am taking part but at a leisurely walk. It is such a charged day but this year will be even more poignant for me.
My dad is dying of stomach cancer. He’s seven stone wet through now, not eaten properly for about a month and I’m afraid, on borrowed time (to be frank, I’m not sure how he is surviving), so even though it is for the girls, I’m running in aid of him. He is so brave.
I wish your friend a good ‘race’.
Mel
I would if I was there. My mother died of stomach cancer. I have had friends die of cancer. My father’s godson is dying of cancer. It is a very complex and terrible thing that touches the life of not just the victim but everyone around them. When our Daffodil Day comes up I’ll add a little extra here Jane!
Thank you for your support. Cancer is a terrible disease.
My thoughts are with you and your father, Mel.
